How to Back-Up an Android phone

Smartphones are known as an essential part of people’s everyday life. They can store important data, however, if the phone were to be damaged, the data and everything may be lost. Here’s how to back up your Android phone daily to ensure that you never have to be worried about losing your data.

Google Photos

1. Open Google Photos (you may have to install it)
2. Sign in to your preferred Google Account
3. Tap your profile picture in the right-hand corner
4. Select Photo settings
5. Tap Back up and Sync
6. Turn on the toggle for Back up and sync
7. Wait for your photos to be uploaded

Google Drive & Dropbox

1. Open Google Drive (you may have to install it)
2. Tap the + icon in the bottom right corner
3. Tap Upload
4. Select the files you would like to upload

Google Drive users get a free 15GB of storage to use when signing up. If you need more, however, you’ll have to pay. You can use Dropbox for more storage.

1. Open Dropbox (you may have to install it)
2. Sign up/Login
3. Tap the + icon in the lower right-hand corner.
4. Select Create or upload file
5. Tap Upload files
6. Select the files you would like to upload

Sure, you can use it for free, but you’ll only get 2GB of free storage. You can pay to get more.

SMS Backup & Restore

1. Open SMS Backup & Restore (you will have to install it)
2. Tap Get Started
3. Tap Set up a backup
4. Tap Messages & Phone calls

Google Contacts

We can back up our contacts easily with Google Contacts.

1. Open Google Contacts on your phone (you may have to install it)
2. Tap your profile picture at the top-right
3. Select Contact app settings
4. Tap Google Contacts sync settings
5. Tap Status
6. Tap Manage Settings
7. Turn on the toggle to Automatically sync

Backing up app data

1. Open Settings
2. Tap System
3. Tap Backup
4. Be sure Back up to Google Drive is on
