Facebook can drain iPhone and Android phone batteries

An ex-Meta employee claims Facebook apps are purposely draining phone batteries (iOS & Android) to study how reduced battery impacts app performance.

Facebook apps can deliberately drain phone batteries

A lawsuit alleges Facebook can drain users’ phones without consent. Data scientist George Hayward said he refused to participate in “negative testing” due to the risk posed to phones, including those of police/rescue workers. Dan Kaiser, lawyer for Hayward, said this practice is “clearly illegal.”

This is because mobile phones will be unavailable for emergency use, car crashes and other. What do you think? Should there be an option to enable and disable this?
