You can keep your console running smoothly by clearing the cache now and then. The cache is data your console’s SSD stores overtime to keep apps and games load times quick. However, this data can slowly pile up and end up slowing down your console. Here’s how to clear the cache.
How to do it on an Xbox Series X/S
- Navigate to the Settings menu
- Select Devices and Connection
- Select Blu-Ray
- Select Persistent Storage
- Choose Clear Persistent Storage
On an Xbox S, you can clear the cache by resetting the console (this will keep all files).

- Navigate to the Settings menu
- Select System
- Select Console Info
- Select Reset Console (be sure you select Keep my Games and Apps, if you do not, all data on your Xbox will be deleted).
How to do it on an Xbox One
- Navigate to Settings
- Select System
- Select Console Info
- Select Reset Console and select Reset and Keep My Games and Apps
You may be wondering whether or not doing this is bad for your console. In fact, this will make sure that your Xbox is in good maintenance if your Xbox is running slow.
